Rosie Perez

Rosie Perez wurde in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, als Tochter von Lydia Perez und Ismael Serrano geboren. Sie ist puertoricanischer Abstammung. Rosie Perez besuchte die Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens, New York, und schrieb sich später am Los Angeles City College in Los Angeles, Kalifornien, ein. Rosie Perez war im zweiten Jahr ihres Studiums und stand kurz davor, von Los Angeles nach New York zurückzukehren.

Als Spike Lee ihr vorschlug, in seinem Film Do the Right Thing (1989) mitzuwirken, nahm sie den Vorschlag an. Es würde ihre erste große Schauspielrolle sein. Sie spielte weiterhin die Nebenrolle der Carla Rodrigo in Peter Weirs Fearless - Jenseits der Angst (1993), für die sie für einen Oscar als beste Nebendarstellerin nominiert wurde. (Sie verlor gegen Anna Paquin für Das Piano (1993)).
